Beth Sanderson

Senior Vice Principal

Beth is Senior Vice Principal with responsibility for leadership, overseeing wellbeing, behaviour and inclusion.

Beth joined Dixons McMillan Academy in August 2017, relocating to Yorkshire specifically to work at such an outstanding school. Before this, Beth held senior leadership roles in challenging contexts in Maidenhead, Cumbria and Leeds.

Originally from the USA, Beth graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English Teaching and graduated summa cum laude. Shortly after, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching: Secondary Education. She moved to the UK in 2007 after fulfilling her lifelong ambition to travel solo around Europe.

As a Future Leader, Beth has the unswerving belief that schools can eradicate disadvantage. She is passionate about social equality and wants all scholars to lead happy and successful lives, regardless of background. She also spent a year and a half as a governor at another Bradford secondary school where she used her experience to help drive improvement in teaching, learning and behaviour. Her academy sentence is, ‘She helped her scholars achieve more than they ever thought possible.’

When Beth is not at school, she can be found hiking the Lakeland fells or the Yorkshire Dales.
