Vice Principal

Bethan leads on behaviour and attendance at Dixons McMillan Academy. Her role is to ensure that every scholar attends school with a positive mindset and has the learning habits they need to be successful.

As an Ambition Institute alumna, Bethan believes passionately that all children deserve an excellent education and that outstanding school leadership can be instrumental in combatting disadvantage.

Bethan is a Psychology graduate from Sheffield University with a Masters in Mathematics Education. She started her teaching career in Sheffield, working in secondary schools in disadvantaged areas. As a Key Stage 3 Maths Coordinator, she established a maths curriculum for students who were new to the country resulting in improved results for EAL learners and a special mention by Ofsted inspectors impressed by the accelerated rates of progress.

Bethan is a founding member of staff at Dixons McMillan Academy who has since led an outstanding mathematics department which achieved excellent GCSE results in August 2019.
