Assistant Vice Principal
Chris is currently Assistant Vice Principal at Dixons McMillan Academy and he leads on Teaching and CPD. His main responsibility is ensuring that lessons at DMA are purposeful and enable scholars to achieve outstanding outcomes that allows them to go on to lead happy and successful lives. Chris has achieved outstanding results both personally and at department and faculty level, including scholars in the class of 2021 achieving on average 2 grades higher than their expected outcome. He relishes the challenge of maintaining the high standards of teaching and learning at DMA that contributed to the outstanding judgement from Ofsted in 2017.
Chris is a graduate from Edge Hill University in Religious Education and has taught RE from KS3 to A Level, as well as teaching and leading on PSHE and Citizenship. He has marked for two different RE exam boards at GCSE Level, as well marking for GCSE Citizenship.
Chris started his teacher training in 2012 and has gone on to work in schools across Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford, raising standards in challenging contexts. Chris took up his first leadership position as Head of RE and PSHE after just his first year of teaching and went from strength to strength, before joining DMA as Assistant Head of Humanities in 2018. After leading the RE department to above outstanding results in the summer of 2019, he was later appointed Head of Humanities before stepping up to the senior leadership team as Assistant Vice Principal.
As well as his passion for RE, Chris is deeply motivated by increasing the life chances for young people in Bradford and has a real drive to raise the aspirations of scholars. His sentence is ‘he inspired scholars to remove the ceiling on their aspirations’.
When not at school Chris can be found on the football pitch, where he referees at county level.
