Kelly Jenkins
Assistant Vice Principal for Student Experience
Kelly joined Dixons McMillan Academy’s Design and Technology department, as the Food Preparation and Nutrition lead in 2017. The following year she took on her first leadership responsibility as Assistant Director of Sixth Form. Kelly managed the pastoral role across the sixth form alongside Areyauna Goodrum, leading on UCAS applications and the Extended Project Qualification.
Last year, Kelly was promoted to the role of Assistant Vice Principal for Safeguarding and Wellbeing. Encompassing a focus on maintaining the outstanding leadership at the academy, the safeguarding of staff and students as well as ensuring our value of Employability is maintained and built upon through further engaging in Employability days and the management of Careers across the academy. This partnered with her work on community engagement and student leadership which began this academic year ensures that our purpose in striving for the whole community to lead happy and successful lives. Her academy sentence is, ‘She empowered her students to take risks and develop their creativity and develop a real hunger for learning.”
Kelly is a Design; Surface Pattern graduate from Staffordshire University. She has taught Design and Technology courses as well as Food Preparation and Nutrition at GCSE and A Level. She has also been part of the careers cross-cutting team for the past year, working within the MAT and forming excellent working relationships with local businesses and education providers to develop a robust careers curriculum.
