Executive Principal

Wesley Davies is an Executive Principal at Dixons Academies Trust, twelve secondary and primary schools serving areas of high disadvantage in Bradford and Leeds. Dixons operates an EBacc-focused curriculum and has been one of the very highest-performing Trusts at secondary for the last three years. As Executive Principal, Wesley continues to support the leadership team at the outstanding Dixons McMillan Academy and oversaw the highly successful opening of the Dixons Sixth Form Academy in 2019. Wesley also leads on several Trust-wide projects and initiatives, and represents Dixons on the local strategic behaviour and attendance network.

Wesley is a Theology and Sociology graduate from the Leeds University where he studied a variety of religions at with a particular focus on Islam and the philosophy of religion. Wesley continues to teach Religious Studies at Dixons McMillan Academy to A level standard. He has led various Religious Education networks, examined to A level standard, spoken at various conferences and been a guest lecturer on PGCE courses.

Wesley joined Dixons Academies as a Newly Qualified Teacher in 2001 at Dixons City Academy. During his time at Dixons City, Wesley was Head of Humanities before becoming a Senior Teacher in 2009. In 2012, Wesley took on the role as Vice Principal at Dixons Trinity Academy where he was instrumental in ensuring that behaviour and teaching were graded outstanding by Ofsted.

In 2014, Wesley became the original Principal of Dixons McMillan Academy. Dixons McMillan Academy secured outstanding in all areas in 2017, a remarkable achievement considering the sixth form provision had only been open nine months. Dixons McMillan’s first set of GCSE Exam results in 2019 saw those students who were on Free School Meals achieve a progress 8 score of +1.

Wesley has had significant experience in the setting up of New Free Schools given his roles at Dixons Trinity, Dixons McMillan and more recently Dixons Sixth Form Academy. This has involved working with stakeholders, overseeing Ofsted Pre-Opening Inspections and the Readiness to Open Meetings with the Department for Education.

Beyond Dixons, Wesley has provided support to various schools in Bradford and the North on self-evaluation, school leadership and strategies to support students eligible for pupil premium funding.
