KS4 Options at DMA

Students at Dixons McMillan have two opportunities to determine which subjects they will receive qualifications at in Year 11.

At the end of Year 8, students choose which BTEC vocational options subject they will choose to study over the three years of Y9-Y11, which include:

Drama
Computing
Health & Social Care
Food Preparation and Nutrition
Art & Design
Art & Design (Textiles)
Design & Technology
Physical Education

Students will continue their studies in all other subjects, including the Humanities, and begin the GCSE course in these subjects.

At the end of Year 9, students then choose whether they will continue with GCSE History or GCSE Geography to Year 11. We believe that this ensures that students get a good grounding in these two subjects by completing the first year of the GCSE courses for those subjects, whilst also ensuring that the choice they make is an informed one - informed by their own experience.
