Cycle 1 Enrichment Day 2025
Posted 27th November 2025
Today was our first Enrichment Day for 2025-26. Enrichment Days have quickly become a Dixons McMillan tradition, and see students in all year groups off-timetable developing cultural capital. Each year group is led by a different department, who work with external providers to develop a day where students can explore that subject beyond the classroom. For this cycle, we had the following taking place:
- Year 7 had a fantastic day with the Science department, including experiments and a visit to the National Media and Science Museum
- Year 8 worked with the Art & Design department, learning and adding to their artistic skills repertoire and taking part in workshops at Bradford College
- Year 9 visited the Pictureville Cinema in Bradford with the MFL department, watching a film in Spanish before undertaking workshops back at school to develop their language learning
- Year 10 undertook our annual set of workshops from the English department themed around A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens to increase their wider cultural and contextual knowledge around the concept of a Victorian Christmas and its impact today
- Year 11 focused on their next steps, with all students visiting New College Bradford and Dixons Sixth Form Academy, with talks also from the University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield and Keighley College.
It was another brilliant and successful day. We are already looking forward to Cycle 2!
