Year 11 were invited to attend the University of Leeds last week for a taster session of what studying Geography entails beyond school and college.

Students experienced a lecture on hazard management as well as learning about how supermarkets map food demand across the UK. As well as this students were given a tour around the Geography department by two student ambassadors from the university.

Year 11 were then spoken to about how Geography offers the transferable skills which attracts employers later on. DMA students demonstrated their value of courtesy throughout with the university very complimentary of Dixons McMillan Academy. The University of Leeds were an excellent host and they have extended a further invite to bring back some of our KS3 as well as KS4 students later in the year.
