Enrichment and co-curricular

Education at Dixons McMillan Academy goes far beyond exam results. Our enrichment and co-curricular offer provides students with opportunities to discover passions, develop skills, and broaden their horizons. These experiences build confidence, independence, and character, preparing students for life beyond school.

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award: all Year 9 students complete the Bronze Award, with the option to progress to Silver in Year 10. Students attend weekly lessons and participate in outdoor expeditions while completing a volunteering element that supports local communities.
  • Enrichment Days: three times a year, students step outside the timetable to take part in cultural visits, creative projects, outdoor challenges, and community service.
  • Weekly clubs and societies: options include debating, rowing, video games, sign language, crochet, yoga, and the Bradford Bulls multi-sport partnership.
  • Cultural studies: Weekly sessions build student cultural capital, helping them engage with current affairs, explore big ideas, and understand the world around them.
