Safeguarding
At Dixons McMillan Academy, safeguarding is central to everything we do. Our aim is to help families in any way we can using a non-judgemental manner and a child-centred approach.
If you have any concerns about any child (anyone under 18), please feel free to contact Paul Murray, Vice Principal & Designated Safeguarding Lead or Patricia King, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
There are many helpful websites that help explain safeguarding in more detail:
Here are some useful external numbers:
NSPCC helpline for adults concerned about a child Call 0808 800 5000
Bradford Social Services Children and Young Persons Social Care Call 01274 437500
We work closely with Early Help, and we offer many different types of courses to enable parents to become more effective and consistent at home. Attendance on courses can be arranged through our Parental Involvement Worker.
Operation Encompass is a police and education partnership to safeguard you and your family and we work together to support our students:
Where we have a safeguarding concern, we never apologise for taking advice from social services: the safety of our students is paramount, and on occasion we require expert guidance and advice when a child makes a disclosure in school. We always work closely with any external agencies and our families to ensure that the child is safe and protected.
Please see below for our information posters with further information around our safeguarding team and where to go for further help and guidance:
